The foreign financial services industry currently employs about 30.000 persons directly in Germany. They pay taxes locally and offer private clients and companies access to a variety of products, banking and financial services. The variety of the business models and organisational forms (structures) offer clients many advantages and thus contribute significantly to the attractiveness of the German financial market.
The number, market share and the employees of the foreign financial institutions in Germany remain stable. They take responsibility for domestic businesses and will remain committed to the German financial position as the core market in Europe.
The list of countries of origin is long. Thanks to the European passport, the European single market primarily facilitates the establishment of institutions from European countries. Along with numerous European institutions, especially banks and funds companies, other institutions from the USA, Japan, India, China, Brazil, Russia and the Middle East, have established themselves in Germany. This is especially the case in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich.
