Importance

The foreign financial services industry currently employs about 30,000 people directly in Germany. They pay taxes locally and offer access for retail clients and companies to a wide range of products, banking and financial services. The variety of the business models and organizational forms (structures) has many advantages for clients and thus contributes significantly to the attractiveness of the German financial market.

The number of foreign financial institutions in Germany as well as their domestic market share and number of employees remain stable. They take responsibility for the German economy and are clearly committed to the German financial market as the core market in Europe.

The list of home states is extensive. Due to the European passport, the European single market primarily facilitates the establishment of institutions from European countries. Besides these numerous European institutions, institutions and funds companies in particular from the USA, Japan, India, China, Brazil and the Middle East have established themselves in Germany, especially in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich.
